On vacation...

We spent last week in California visiting Disneyland and Universal Studios. Ava seemed to enjoy everything. She did cry when Spongebob reached for her but did fine with the other characters.

Ava's baptism was right before we left for our trip. She didn't care much for the water being poured over her head but did okay other than that.

Update on Ava

It's hard to believe Ava and I have been together for just over two months now. She is doing so well and we are having a ton of fun together. At her one-year doctors visit on April 23, Ava weighed 16 lbs., 5 oz. (9 oz. more than her first visit a month earlier) which keeps her at the 1% mark on the growth charts. She grew 1" in length to 28.25" so she moved from 10% to 20% on the height charts. She had to get 5 more shots on this visit and will have to get more at her 15 month checkup.

Ava now has two teeth and I'm expecting more soon. She has started eating some table food, still mainly mushed up food. I have given her pancakes cut up small, peaches and manderin oranges, scrambled eggs, ice cream, yogurt, cheese and few other items. She is not too picky and will try most things. Because of her size, she has remained on formula- I was really hoping to switch to milk- much cheaper than formula.

She can stand holding onto things but does not pull herself into a standing position on her own. Ava gets herself into a position to crawl but doesn't actually crawl. She scooches around on her butt. She likes her walker and has figured out she can get where ever she wants to go in it. I can't tell you how many times I've had my toes run over.

Ava loves to blow kisses, clap her hands, wave good-bye (usually after the person has left) and shake her head no. She has a number of little books and really enjoys looking through them. We've been working on identifying body parts (mainly face- nose, eyes, mouth).

This past week, Sammy, the cat, has started to come up to Ava. I'm not sure why she keeps coming up to Ava since she is usually rewarded with her ear or tail or hair being pulled.

Ava is just the sweetest, most adorable baby and I am so blessed to be her mom. To all my friends and fellow bloggers, THANK YOU for all your support throughout the very long process. And to all of you still waiting for your angel to come home, hang in there because it is so worth the wait!
